The first media article regarding CRUs intention to ensure that the information contained in the latest IPCC report on the scientific basis of sea level rise (AR6) is used in coastal hazard assessment in New Zealand. Present practice in assessing coastal hazards on the Kāpiti Coast, and elsewhere in New Zealand, is using a scenario (RCP8.5) referred to by the IPCC as "implausible" and "unlikely".
